Let Them Live Free

Embark launched an awareness campaign on the repercussions of caging dogs this week. Caging is a popular “convenience practice” that is often used on dogs in Sri Lanka. It deprives dogs of the opportunity to fulfill some of their most basic needs, such as the freedom to walk around, the opportunity to relieve themselves, and the ability to stretch out and relax. It also prevents them from interacting with their environment and learning how to behave in a human setting.Studies have shown that long-term confinement is detrimental to the physical and psychological well-being of animals. Animal welfare activists in Sri Lanka are constantly faced with issues of dogs who are regularly caged for long periods of time and Embark launched this particular campaign to begin combatting this common and deeply entrenched welfare issue
