New Project Launched in Dambulla

The historic sites in Sri Lanka draw thousands of tourists each year and the street dogs inevitably follow in search of food. Large concentrations of street dogs are found in these areas, as a result.

Embark launched Project Sigiriya in 2014, after receiving several requests to address the growing numbers in the area. This programme was successfully completed in August 2015. Embark moved on to neighbouring Dambulla where the famous rock temple is a popular attraction. Project Dambulla got underway in September 2015 and the first phase saw the completion of 145 surgeries and 252 vaccinations. This project is being carried out in collaboration with Fondation Brigitte Bardot, TAPA Sri Lanka and Dambulla Municipal Council.
