Best Care ( teams completed a dog population survey in the Dambulla/Sigiriyaduring the last week of May 2014. Following guidelines put forward by the WSPA for surveying of roaming dogs, the team was able to establish an initial estimate on the number of dogs to be vaccinated and sterilised.

Co-funded by Embark and Jetwing Hotels Sri Lanka, the project partners with Best Care Animal Hospital as veterinary service provider. All activities will be carried out in coordination with the regional Tourist Authority, Medical Officers of Health (MoH), and local Public Health Inspectors (PHIs). Dogstar Foundation Sri Lanka is also raising funds and mobilising support for the project.

As with other CNVR programmes implemented by Embark in the last eight years, the project follows internationally accepted CNVR methodology and targets a minimum 70% surgical sterilisation and anti-rabies vaccination coverage.
