World Animal Day, was established to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. This day, celebrated on the 4^th of October each year reminds us of our responsibility to the amazing animals we share our world with and the need to protect them.

Building the celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilizing it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals.  Being Sri Lanka’s World Animal Day Ambassador Otara works to further this initiative through her work with Otara Foundation and Embark. 2016 will feature an awareness campaign to commemorate World Animal Day this year.
